The idea
A business has something that needs doing. A person has the time and the skill to do it. Lumen is the part in the middle.
We agree the scope, pay and schedule with the business, then share the brief with you. You choose whether to accept. You’ll know what’s expected before starting, and you’ll be paid the agreed amount.
Step by step
What you will look at, how long it should take, the pay, how you get paid, and the date. All of it before you say yes.
On your own time. Paid activities explain what you will look at and what feedback to share before you start.
The review steps are stated up front. If something is wrong, you hear what was wrong and why — not just that it was.
On the date written into the brief. Gift card or bank transfer, whichever you chose.

These three lines are the whole standard. If a project cannot meet them, it does not go on this site.
Each paid activity explains what you will look at, roughly how long it takes, what it pays, how feedback is checked, and who to ask. You read it before you agree to anything, and nothing is added afterwards without your say-so.
Money
Pay depends on the activity. What never differs is that you see the figure before you start.
Paid activities reward your time and perspective. Lumen Live rewards watching and inviting. Details will be shared before participation opens.
You choose how to be paid: a gift card from a major retailer, or a transfer to your bank. Nothing is deducted for joining, and there is no fee to leave.
Questions and problems
Every project has a named contact. If a review decision looks wrong, ask about it and you will get a straight answer.
Outside a project, questions go to hello@lumeninitiative.org. Business enquiries go to the same place. Asking a question never affects your standing.
