Is this a scam?
Ask us for proof instead of taking our word. Three things you can check yourself today:
We do not ask you for money — not to join, not to start, not ever. Taking part does not require a fee.
Each paid activity invitation will explain what is involved, the pay and timing before you accept.
We tell you what is not ready. Most of Lumen is still being built, and the pages say so instead of pretending otherwise.
We never charge you to take part.
What do I need to get paid?
A bank account, or an email address. That is all.
Payment arrives as a gift card from a major retailer, or as a bank transfer. You choose which when you set up.
You do not need a wallet, an app store account, a bank in a particular country, or anything to buy first.
How much can I earn?
It depends on how you participate and which paid activities are available. We do not promise a fixed income.

When can I start?

Do I have to keep set hours?
No. You choose when to take part and which paid activities to accept.
Nobody is told off for being unavailable.
What if I am outside the United States?
You can join from anywhere. The site is published in eight languages and the waitlist asks which language you would use.
Two practical things vary by country: which gift cards are available to you, and how long a bank transfer takes. Both are shown before you choose a payment method.
Is this crypto?
No. Money arrives as a gift card or a bank transfer, in ordinary currency.
No wallet is needed. You choose a gift card or bank transfer.
What happens to my details?
We store what you send us: your email, your name if you gave it, your country, which list you joined, your language, and which permissions you ticked. Nothing more.
We use it to reply to you and to manage the list you chose. We do not sell it, and we do not pass it to advertisers. The terms and privacy page spells this out.
How do I leave?
Email hello@lumeninitiative.org and ask. You can unsubscribe from emails, or ask us to delete what we hold.
You never have to explain why.
